New to me, JVC R-S77

So I picked up a pair of Norman Lab Model 10a speakers today and the seller threw in a JVC R-S77 at a great price. I don't know anything about this receiver and haven't even had a chance to turn it on yet. Anybody know anything about this unit?

The previous owner included the Instruction Book and Owner's Manual. The manual makes some pretty impressive claims, as in 0.001 THD 65 watts rms into 8 ohms @ 1khz, etc. using something called super A power amp circuitry, aimed at eliminating switching distortion.

I still have to clean her up and will post some pictures tomorrow.

I think JVC did it right with these receivers. I had the same AMP and matching tuner and sold it to a fellow AK Member. You will be impressed with the performance. Mated to the Norman Labs you will be smiling:yes: I am still planning on a trip to Oklahoma to pick up a set of Norman Labs Model 9's my cousin is holding for me. Can't wait to hear them mated with my current set up.

Wow! That sure is a pretty setup ya got there. So what's the deal on the Norman's that you are picking up? I read about the 9's in the literature that came with my 10a's - the 9's sure are loaded! What kind of shape are yours in and if you had work done (refoam, etc.), where did you/will you have the work done? I am considering DIY vs. paying a pro.

I have always been a big fan of the vintage JVC receivers & amps. You have a nice system there to start with Tensleeep.

Orionkc, that is a Beautiful setup.

Man, I miss my JVC R-S33 receiver!
