Just watched this and found it fascinating. I would be interested in seeing if anyone can identify the turntables used.

This is a good one. IIRC, Joe played some of the rarer "race" and "hillbilly" sides in his collection for this production; I can't recall if any of his super rare "only one known to exist" Black Patti sides were included among those played. Thanks for sharing the link with us.

Yes he did include one Black Patti release. This was a very cool movie, thanks. :thmbsp:
 
I love when he "cools" the table down with his album sleeve because the white hot Jazz is steaming things up, what a character!
 
I highly recommend the DVD release of this documentary. There's extra features on the disc that make it essential.
 
Thanks for posting this. Many here including me forget sometimes it about the music, not the equipment. Those 78's sound great 'cause there is great music on them.

Same here, though I found his dismissive attitude towards any form of music outside of his personal tastes to be rather off-putting. No point in peeing in someone else's Cheerios.
 
Same here. I do enjoy some of the music that he is so passionate about, but certainly not all of it. However, I'm not going to say that country music (old or new) is a cancer on the music world. It is what it is...I just don't listen to it.

Great watch, Now I dont feel so bad about all the hours I spend going through the thrift bins, garage sale stacks etc. and yes I'm in my 60's and it really never does wear off.
