"Black Flag" Capacitors

I've seen several references in the past to the "black flag" capacitors that are problematic on the AU-919 driver boards, and also apparently the same with the BA-F1.

I'm looking to re-cap my BA-F1 and want to clean out the "black flags" as well, but need to know exactly what I'm looking for.

I'd appreciate any info on which components these are in the BA-F1 circuits, what type of capacitor the schematic legend designates them as, and maybe even a photo of one.

I've seen that silver micas are the recommended replacement.

Thanks- Herb

The word is that the 'Black Flags' are unreliable and I have not heard anybody say they have replaced them with anything other than silver mica equivalents.

Just my 3 ha'pence worth

look at the driver board and you will see them. Echo may have a list of values and how many........?

They are not hard to find, and are well labeled. When you see one, you'll know what you're looking at. If not, post a pic of a driver board and we'll point one out.

Thanks for the replies-

At some point soon I'll dig the amp out of the system and pull the cover and take a look (and a photo or two). Hopefully they will be obvious...

And, echowars, can you tell me what they will be labeled as?

Thanks- Herb
