It's nice that it uses the 12AU7 tubes which are very common, relatively inexpensive as well as easy to find. It don't hurt that I use them in my Bottlehead Foreplay either. Should be fun experimenting with different tubes on this unit.

Well, I have had this about 4 hours now and all I can say is wow....the phono section is off the hook...I am so impressed. It uses internal jumpers and is a snap to set up. I will need several more days to play with this amp to be able to full appreciate her I'm sure...but that being said, it has passed the first and most critical test in my mind regarding Vinyl playback capabilities...

I got to listen to this today, it was set up on sparksaflyin’s Altec Model 19s with a Sansui SR-929 that I recently set up with a Blue Point cart, all I can say is very sweet! Thanks for brining it by Bill, I had a lot of fun! :music:
 
Bill, thanks for the visit to Boise! Here are photo's of the Unico P. I think it is a very nicely crafted integrated amp. The phono stage is right at the input jacks. It uses headers & jumpers instead of switches, nice. The motorized volume pot circuitry is far away from everything. It's dead quiet, runs cool, and has plenty of power. We spun vinyl for a few more hours before calling it a day.

That was a great time at both respective houses today...thanks you both....I was again very pleased with the amp, but thought the star/stars were the Altec model 19's...as well as each respective turntable...Mel's Pas 3 modded by our new friend Jim (sparksaflyin) was very, very nice as well.
 
OK..I just spent the entire afternoon with the Unico P and...well, All I can say is that this is one fine, fine amp. I was looking for a well built, tubed preamp with a HQ phono stage. Suffice it to say that I have found what I was looking for...the fact a class A amp section came attached was gravy...lot's of gravy. You see I have 3 very fine amps already, a PP 6BQ5/EL84 amp built by Jaymana, a 6BQ5/EL84 SET amp built by Redboy and a 100 wpc SAE transistor amp...I ain't hurting for amps....I wasn't looking for an amp.
Enter this Unico P hybrid integrated. I think the best compliment I can offer is that this is one smooth, smooth operator...not a fatiguing bone in her body. What I have been treated today is music, pure and simple....
I have to be honest...all I have done for the last couple of days is vinyl...so I don't have a lot to say about CD playback as of yet. I can't seem to get past this amps phono stage, and wasn't that the idea...(it was...)
I am not by any means a digital music basher, I love my CD's/digital files and am putting together a Computer as a source system, that is where the SAE amp comes in...but I digress...

Like I said earlier, I have been treated to a very pleasant, non-fatiguing day of music...
I can very enthusiastically recommend this amp to any and all looking for a well built, musical amp..
 
I like it! I like the simple but elegant look of it, combined with a hybrid setup. I LOVE the phono stage being included. $2,500....Come on LOTTO!

Hey Bill, I'm familiar with the SE version and it is a very nice integrated. If the "P" is close, I would think that you are going to be very happy with it :thmbsp:
