maybe the wife ran off with the manager of the bank she worked at and the speakers are the only real asset she left him with and he's trying to keep the house after she emptied the accounts and packed up everything that would travel.

Those things look absurdly out of place in that ratty little storage area. I'm not going to be judgmental, but if that's what my house looked like, I probably wouldn't be buying $30,000 speakers.
