Yamaha A1 Integrated Spare Parts

Hi,

First post here and am in need of some advice to source spare parts for my recently recieved Yamaha A1 if they are still available?

I am looking for replacement shaft holders item 36 on the spare parts list Yamaha part number 320000CB086910 2no. and associated screws and M5 nuts Yamaha part numbers 320000BA073470 SCREW #7347 AND 320000AA090710 M5 NUT.

Any help would be much appreciated to get the amp back to 100% condition.

Screw and nut should not be a problem at all. For special parts like the shaft holders use a dremel tool and cut them out of a 2-4 mm aluminium profile. This is not difficult at all.
 
Unfortunatley these days I do not have any tools as such can any one recommend a machine shop that could undertake the work? As a side note if any one needs full schematics A1 (double sided), circuit diagrams and parts list for this model let me know and I can scan and email as I recieved a full set when it last went for a repair. Thanks

For what I have read here, the A-1 is a sound integrated.
Last month I got my A-1 (actually two), and are playing fine.
Only needed cleaning, lubing and fixing the cover hinges.

Ah...these must be the "sealing panel" AKA front door plastic hinges that have broken off (bad design!). If that's what these are then I have made some out of T-shaped sheet metal that I have bent into shape to hold the door in-place. Then, using double-stick tape and some thin rare-earth magnets I have managed to get the door to stay in place.

Yamaha no longer sells these parts...I have tried.

Two A-1s here...I have one and our younger son has one (that could use a tune-up and new relay).
 
One A-1 came with the plastic hinges intact (no springs to keep the panel closed) but broke within minutes. Managed to epoxi aluminum strips bent into a "J" shape to hold the pins. Read your previous post about using magnets to keep the panel closed. Used contact cement to glue a round magnet to the case and a steel washer to the panel. Now the A-1s have the original silver modernistic looks.

That's exactly what I did...T-shaped metal pieces, vertical leg bent into a J-shape (and used the original nut/bolt to anchor), and in my case I used some 3M contact tape for the small flat magnets.

Oh wait...you have a SILVER (not a black) A-1?! Please post a photo and if so, you might want to contact Axel at The Vintage Knob about this...he'd be VERY interested too.

Top grill: ivory colored plastic, metal black mesh on the underside. Each little square in its own square cutout of the cover. Solidly attached to the metal cover with a thick off-white paste. Resonance proofing? What kind of grill the black A-1 have?
 
That Silver A-1 is gorgeous.:drool: Looking at the link to The Vintage Knob's A-1 pics has me reconsidering selling mine now. I wanted to raise some funds for the C-2X I just bought from Wajobu, but may have to sell something else instead. I'm really partial to the aesthetic of the lighted square buttons, from that era of Yamaha gear. My first Yamaha piece, an A-550 integrated had them, as do my M-4 and C-4. Yamaha perfected that design idea with the A-1.

Those backlit switches in my B-4 and C-6 are a plus, and the A-1 is a cool sight in a dim lit room.
Will keep them.

Thanks for the thread

A shoutout, thanks to posters of the past. I have just busted the hinge on my "new" A-1. You really can't tilt the beast up by lifting on the movable flap. Hence a busted hinge thingy. Glad I can follow this path to replacing the hinge on this cosmetically excellent unit. Now onward to finding the best way to recap this guy.
