I saw them in concert in September 2005 during the Bullet in a Bible Tour. I don't think I was the oldest guy there but close. :D I sat next to a mom who brought her daughter and friend to the concert. She did not have a good time. I don't know why it was the most fun I have had at a concert in years. Tre Cool was killing it.

I like Green day , last album allthough very un-original in spots , it was a really great album!!
I heard the new single & was pretty bummed with it , sounded more EMO/Blink 182 to me , hope the rest of the album is killer .

They are re-relasing a lot of the older albums on vinyl this saturday for "record store day " some come with Bonus 45's

I heard "Know Your Enemy" a couple of times this week and it didn't grab me like most of the singles from AI. I'm still hopeful that the album will deliver some good songs.

Thanks for the heads-up, Duffer.

As you know, I also loved American Idiot - a rare rock album where every song is good and they are all musically integrated almost like a rock opera.

I will be buying their new CD.

Yes, and I am also an old guy fan of Green Day.

Here's the Green Day vinyl reissue schedule.:thmbsp:

More concert dates have been added and they'll be in Sac Town on August 24th. And only 12 more days until the album is released. :thmbsp: The song Know Your Enemy is starting to get a lot of air play locally.

Whereas I disagree with their politics on the album, I have to say that "American Idiot" was a good one. They have a knack for writing well, and they sound like they truly "feel" their lyrics, which gives them a dose of "genuinity"(is that even close to a word?) that so many artists today don't have. As far as newer bands go, they are pretty close to the top of the heap. Good stuff, and I'll keep listening to their albums as long as they keep making them.

Keep in mind, that if the new one "misses", and isn't quite up to snuff, that everyone has a clunker or two in their career. They set the bar pretty high with that last one.

rooster.

i will check it out. i kind of lost track/interest of Green Day after Nimrod. but im slowly getting back into them. i picked up the remasters of 39/smooth, Kerplunk, and Dookie. Insomniac comes out may 19th and will be picking that up on vinyl as the rest.

I have all their work, and will continue to support them through cd purchases. They are a great band, can't wait...............:thmbsp:

My daughter is 7. She recognized Green Day when they popped up on the Palladia channel last night.

I dare say, Green Day appeals to many generations. Even older cats like me that grew up on the Jam and Clash.

Ditto!

My cousin and his 14 year old son turned me onto AI this winter. I had never listened to the whole album. It has been living in my CD changer in my car since January. It really is a great album. I look forward to the new release, as well as picking up their older albums.

I was listening to The Clash and The Ramones for years and still don't know how I missed Green Day the first time around.

I have seven year old boy/girl twins and my daughter really likes Wake Me Up When September Ends. I don't let her listen to the whole album though.

I hope this is a good one. I'm sure my 14 year old son will let me know. I'm also an old fart with tastes that include Green Day and old punk (nothing's better than the Clash, of course). The Palladia Green Day concert a few weeks back was great. It's probably still playing, catch it.

I'm going to have to check this one out. I saw Green Day live a few times when they were still working their way up, early in the "Dookie" era. They've been a favorite for a long time, and I loved "American Idiot."

i'm not really a fan of their new stuff. Waaay too political for me. Their old stuff is good though. I think a lot of people forgot how good of an album "Insomniac" is. I feel like that is almost their forgotten album.

When is the official release date for the vinyl re-release of that?

Also how do their new re-releases sound?

OK who's got it and what do you think of it?

I bought it on my way home from work yesterday and have listened to it one time. So far I'm liking it a lot. I'll get a chance to listen to it a couple of more times today as I take a long drive to and from the Bay Area later this afternoon.
