I picked these up off of the Chicago CL a few weeks ago. They are in great shape, almost like new. Made in September, 1990. They had the original foams. No tears in the grilles either. I cracked the foam with the 9090DB, I just finished refoaming them today. This is my second refoam job. The old dust caps looked too small and there is no vent in the magnet. I figured the air could pass through the 4.5 in with less resistance, they look better too since the small ones just looked disproportionate. I also popped the dents out of one of the mid's metal screens, also re-glued another one that was falling off.
I plan to add more bracing to the cabinets, install binding post terminals, rewire the inside and recap the crossover. I may upgrade the tweets too. There was a little corrosion on the female spade connector at the rear terminals so I soldered the wires on until I replace the whole thing. I'm listening to them now
but not loud for a few days
until the glue cures thoroughly. Since I always find an unwanted surprise in just about everything, why not this time too. Dog food....:screwy:most likely kids put it in there. Explains the things rattling around in there when I was loading them into my car. You should have seen me putting these into my Mazda Protege. Talk about a clown car huh?

I am an owner of original D-9's since new and I will always love mine. I got mine from Best Buy in Des Moines, Iowa in 1988.
The bass makes the floor shake up and down like an earthquake! My knees get weak if I stand in the middle of the room! I don't know if my 1893 house can take it,
