Electrovoice Interface B Series 3 Brochure

Found an old Brochure on these once great speakers so I thought I'd scan it in and share them with others. Enjoy ;)

Most people don't realise that these are essentially a 8 inch 2 way speaker with an enhanced bottom end due to the passive radiator ;)

Great add. I own the smallest ones, the Interface A's. Got them used back in 1983 for $150. The record store had them as their house speakers. They sold most of the EV Interface line and I remember the huge floor ones.

hey sorry to bump....

i got 2 of these speakers (interface B series 3) set up in my room with a JVC RX1001V, decided on setting these up instead of buying 2.1 computer speakers...best decision ever lol. Anyway my question is, at high volume one of them sounds sorta distorted but the other one is fine. Do you think the speaker is blown? I dont remember it being like this at all (we used them a few months ago)...could it be the speaker cable is not high enough quality ? What type would you recommend?

Also, I have my laptop plugged in via 3.5mm to 2RCA, although if another device is plugged into the amp (eg my movie player), as soon as i plug my laptop in, i get a whole ton of electrical noise (its like someone got a microphone and put it inside the laptop) but if I unplug the movie player its silent...any ideas on this?

lol as in OP, myself and my dad also thought this had a sub, and ages ago we tested them and concluded the sub wasnt working so they got put away in the garage.

Can anyone please tell me if the ELECTRO VOICE INTERFACE B SERIES 2 had an outboard equaliser.
I have been offered a pair for sale that need new surrounds but there does not appear to be a crossover.
Also I use a small old integrated amp, a Naim Nait2. Could the cross over be used with the Nait??
Can the speakers be used without the xover???

Thanks for looking

interface

Models A-D all were sold with, used, an equalizer. Models 1-4 did not use an equalizer. The equalizers appear regularly on evilbay, Andrew.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PIC ATTACHED.
The model is Interface B series II
All of the info I can find is about series III
I can find no mention of Sieries II
Also do the drivers look original, the series III do not have the EV logo on the mid driver.
Thanks

Those are the exact ones that I own...minus the holes and straps :D

The foam rotted in them and I put $20 Pioneer 8'' woofers in as replacements. I put the original EV woofers in the attic, and didn't think about them again until I heard about refoaming. Recently I went to the attic and couldn't find them. :sigh:

Yes, those drivers are original. If you have any doubt, however, pull the woofer and look at the frame, magnet. Then. match it up with a woofer from ebay. Also, the EV/Telex site lists most of thier discontinued products along with pictures and spec. sheets. Regards, Andrew.

From a ELECTRO-VOICE flyer/1977.

I don`t know a B Series II with a EV logo on the bass-mid driver, may be yours at a later time reconed from EV.
The 12" isn`t a woofer with voice-coil, it is a (passiv) low-frequency radiator
The tweeters are from PEERLES

Interface: B Series II
The Interface: B is up against some tough competition. But instead of putting our money in gadgets and gimmicks, we've concentrated an performance.
The B is nearly as efficient as Interface: C and D. It plays twice as loud as a typical acoustic Suspension speaker using exactly the saure power.
So you can have the wide dynamic range and effortless sound of a high¬powered amplifier without a high-powered price. It makes recorded music sound real. And that's what hi-fi is all about.
The Interface: B's vented, equalized design puts out honest bass all the way down to 26 Hz. And that kind of deep, low-distortion bass sounds really awesome.
The B also uses front and rear-mounted tweeters, for excep¬tional high frequency dispersion. And the tweeters are protected from burn-out by an exclusive electronic circuit.
Before you buy a speaker with a lot of jazzy "features", listen to the Interface: B. It has the best feature of all - the brilliance and clarity of "live" music.

Yes they can. The EQ was mainly ment to save the woofer from super low distortion at higher volumes that could damage it. Old EV home speakers are pretty awesome and overlooked!:thmbsp:

Interface B Equalizer

This is partially true, the equalizer does protect the woofer from overexcursion at very low frequencies. It also provides boost at lower frequencies and extends the bass about a half octave, which is a substantial amount. The box, passive radiator, woofer and equalizer were designed to work together as a system. This they do very well, without the equalizer they will not sound the same, give good low bass, or offer the woofer protection that the designers deemed appropriate. Information on this particular design is available at the EV/Telex site and also at the Audio Asylum. I grew up with my Father's interface A's, owned I's and C's and regularly listen to D's. Get the equlizer, you'll be glad you did. Regards, Andrew.

E-V states that it is not a "boost" per se because they claim the freq. response is still flat meaning it just allows the cabinet to produce lower freqs with the help of the vent. The woofer protection is in effect because the EQ protects it against rumble and other unwanted low freq. anomalies. I just purchased the EQ and it makes a world of difference in the lower registers.
