My first score...Fisher tubes...Pics!

Jailtime

Standin' on a corner
Well, I was browsing CL earlier today, and saw an ad for an "FM receiver" just a few miles away from me. Click on the ad, and see Fisher 500C. :scratch2: Price $150. It was a no-brainer for me, there's never good gear in my area, until now. Looks pretty nice to me, and there's an original wood case and owner's manual too. All the tubes are The Fisher originals, mostly made in W. Germany. Can you tell me about these tubes? I put a closeup of one of the 12AX7s in the pics. Haven't cleaned her up yet or powered on, the seller (nice old man) said it worked fine. Now I have a friend for my 800C!:banana: I'm so excited I think I need another banana! :D

Probably mostly Telefunken tubes. I am only real familiar with the ribbed 12AX7 and in my Fisher units they have sounded great. Also sounded great in some of my Heathkit, Pilot and HK equipment, but like any other tube, can lose its luster in the wrong circuit.

I just edited and added the pics, I can see 'em. Might put up more later. So excited that I forgot the pics in the first post.:stupid: BTW, those speakers are Jensen 3-ways that came in the deal.

Well, I'm seeing the pics just fine.

My man, you have no idea what you just acquired.

You just bought a $150 original Fisher walnut cabinet for $150, and you got that 500C for free.

With the original Fisher 7591 outputs, no less.:thmbsp:

nice score!

cheapest fisher receiver i had ever paid for was $350. without power tubes and filler 9 pin tubes.

looks like all telefunkens! great score indeed. :thmbsp:

SCROE!!!!

score, is just that, a score.

a SCROE!!!, is a score, thats so exciting you cannot type fast enough to express it.

this is definately a good scroe man.

Honestly, when I saw it, I thought $150 was going to make it at best an average score. But this thing is mint, a shiny chassis lies under the dust, and there's not a hint of rust on the trannies. It's even got a nice original power cord. I'll get some pics up when I clean her this weekend.

Yeah very nice, I think this is the first one I have seen with all the knob brights. Ask the seller if he still has the original box, that would be cool to have. I paid 100$ for my 800C and its missing brights, switches and the chassis is rusty...thank god the case hides it all....very nice find.

Hahahaha, I tried to buy this this morning he was hesitant to ship and called me back tonight and said he sold it locally ohh well I hope you enjoy it.

The Fisher 500-B I recently scored had all the original Fisher tubes also. They are a mix of Telefunken, Amperex (Holland-made) and Mullards. The 7591's are USA made but I have yet to determine by who...probably RCA?
