Repair grill frames DONE
Recloth grills (JBL blue) DONE
Brace baffle further with 1" dowels DONE
Strip and replace all veneer DONE
Repaint baffle DONE
Switch T350 tweeter to front mounting N/A
Remount drivers with T-nuts and plywood shims DONE
Paint midrange horns (?) NOPE
Replace caps and resistors in crossover DONE
Bypass L-pads DONE
Figure out damping, possibly replace fiberglass insulation with something else DONE
New binding posts DONE
New internal wiring (up from 18 awg) DONE

We are painting the midrange horns to match the JBL blue grill cloth.

By the way, did you order the cloth?

Soon, I'm busy stripping all the veneer off today, you are lucky you do not have to do this work, it sucks! but it is better this way.

Are you sure you want to do that? I mean it is a big job to strip all of it off of those speakers.

But it is better this way, we can get done sooner with the restoration.

Are you going to fluch mount the woofers as well? Looks like a healthy rask ahead of you! Those look like Old EV cabs you have there- hope it all turns our well for you!

The woofers are already flush mounted. they might stick out a little more with the gasket tape, but I do not want to cut into the MDF any more because it will loose strength.

Don't worry, I can do it myself, there is enough to do that I want to get as much done as possible this week.

Good news, the veneer will be cheaper than I thought. We will only need 25 square feet, and the sheet of veneer only needs to be 20" wide.

I want you to look up veneer types and post what you think would look good.

I was thinking dark walnut stained redish, just like the JBL L19s.

I forgot to say there is a 1 inch wooden dowel in the cab bracing the front to the back of the cab.

Given the weight of all those drivers I would certainly add more bracing! I was also thinking there was an upgraded diaphragn for the T350 as well!

Weren't we going to brace the second dowel where the controls use to be?

That is a weak area there.

Yes, going to do one there, and then reassess after that.

The plywood blanks that I am going to use for the T-nuts might add some more strength as well.

Yup. Surprisingly the 12" woofers weigh a little more than 10# each, and the 10ers about 6 or 7#

I'm pooped! I have 3 out of 12 sides striped of veneer and my hands are already cut up!

How come you are removing the original veneer? From the pics it looks like it's in pretty decent shape....no?

The original veneer is actually pretty bad. Part of the veneer on the back is gone, and is bad in some areas.
