Final amplifier assemblies for a Yamaha PC5002M Pro-amp.Red marks indicate transistors that are going to get replaced with OEM transistors.Both these assemblies are going to get completely stripped down and cleaned up and reassembled with all new thermal compound and mica insulators.

Sounds like a great saturday night.Cleaning up old silicone grease and watching college football..:thmbsp: Just don't get any better than that..:D
 
Lots of paper towels..For this job anyway.:D Figure I'll let all the fasteners soak in a jar of acetone.Then use copious amounts of cheap contact cleaner to flush out the transistor sockets,followed up with a deox-it D100L treatment.Wipe down the transistor base and emitter leads with deoxit as well.Wiring for the assemblies is coated with dust,dirt and cigarette residue.Windex works great for cleaning that up.

I'm slowly stripping the amp down out in the garage.To damn heavy to lug down to the shop.

found some cracked solder connections..On the driver TO-220's..

Bought some bulk mica insulators off of the bay. Got 50 ea. TO-3,TO-220,and some round washer TO-4 style insulators. I'm thinking what in the Sam hell am I going to use these round ones for.:scratch2: ( was one of those package deals on ebay) Less than 5 clams for all of them. Good thing I got them.Going to need 4 of them on these assemblies for the two large rectifiers on each assembly.

My goodness! That amplifier is just a regulated short circuit. Thanks for the pictorial thread - I'm learning some technique here. Football + electronics = :thmbsp:
 
Are you wearing a respirator? Is the garage door open? Was it windy, keeping this stuff at bay?

Another Saturday Night and I Aint got no money..

Recapping driver boards...And watch´n football..Lugged that big SOB down into the cave...I think my left nut beat me down the steps...

Don´t think cdfac would approve of that.I´m still look´n for that left nut..I think it bounced into a 9090 thats awaiting maintenance.:scratch2:
 
Fix´n to see what she´ll Do

Going to fire up this space heater.. Still have a couple minor glitches to remedy.
Had the amp hooked up to the NS-690´s last night. Was getting great sound out of both channels...Then 2 of the left channel meter bulbs checked out--Dammit!! Left channel clipping LED stays on all the time also..:scratch2:
