Got my first tube project! now what...

I've been thinking about getting into the tube world for a while so when I saw this little guy for 20 bucks I snagged it.

came out of an old organ, I was told it worked when removed. Other than that I don't know anything about it.

My initial thought is to make a guitar amplifier out of it but I know absolutely nothing about tube amps or electronics.:scratch2:

Time to get started, can't learn anything if you don't try I suppose.


I need some advice on how to get started, I was reading through the sticky threads and see some good reading that should get me going, anything else I need? I don't have any real tools yet, been meaning to get a soldering iron and a volt meter. Do I need to get a tube checker or any of that stuff?

That appears to be a mono unit if I'm not mistaken.

thats a nice mono amp! go for it. if you can solder and have general electronics knowledge, go for it. you got a great deal at $20 for that amp.

yep.. mono.. all you need for a guitar amp.. .

First step, identify the amp, and find a schematic.

Look around on the net to see if anyone has modded one as a guitar amp and read up on it... make changes if you think you understand and are able..

If you don't want to do any mods at first, find out what all the caps are in it, order them up, and replace them.. Those two big cans on top especially..

That's the simple steps... you're about to get hooked I have a feeling...
