Today's treat: Dynaco A25s with EPI M-90 topping

Been having fun with some of the bookshelf speakers I have laying around. Listened to some Dynaco A25s for awhile, then stacked A25s. Very nice sound, with the stacks providing a bit fuller, less strained sound versus the singles.

Anyway, pulled the top pair of A25s down, and slapped a pair of EPI M-90s on top. Been running for a couple hours this way and I must say....wow.
The A25s are clean and clear, but lack reproducing the uppermost frequencies. Adding the M-90's up top fills that in nicely.... you can immediately hear stuff that was missing with the "all A25" stack.

Time for more listening....

Those A25 cabs are deep. That's quite a room you've got there.

Those are all the middle era ones with Seas drivers, right? The vents on those things remind me of the square filters they put in foreign cars. I like the looks of the A25 without the grill cloth ass opposed to on. I know it's impractical, but it just looks cooler. I almost would want to paint the front a dark, flat-black color and leave it naked like that. The later Bozaks looked great without the grills.

The ones in the center (partially disassembled) use the seas drivers. The ones just outboard that use some other type of tweeter and woofer. If you look on top of those speakers, there's no less than three different flavors of woofers...... This is becoming a "A25" education for me.
