Today I got the urge to do something so I took the Nova’s apart and found out what caps I needed. I then made a trip to radio shack and picked up what I needed.
I know… Boo! Hiss! Moan! I figured this was my first attempt at replacing capacitors and the $5 in parts from Radio Shack wouldn’t cause much pain when if/when I replace them.
While I was taking the first one apart I thought it’d be a cool idea to take pictures. In my opinion, this is a very well build speaker. Each midrange and tweeter uses a baffle and all speakers are anchored with basically Phillips head bolts to imbedded nuts. I don’t know about the crossover, but the picture should give an idea of what it has.
I do have a question. I don’t think the woofer is using a crossover. If it is, I don’t see how. Can I add something to limit the range?
After replacing the capacitors, they speakers really came alive. So much so that they are now back in “A” spot. I’m wondering is limiting the limiting the woofer to the lower end will help even more?
