Are there any other options to add some pizzazz to DIY cables? I can't stand the material Techflex is made out of.

I really like the appearance of this cable. You can see on the bottom picture the difference between the PET tubing and the MN tubing.

Seems he used a multifilament nylon cable sleeve....
TechFlex seems to make this material here.

Techflex makes a wide array of products. I've found a few various sites in the past that offer different products.

Just saw you made some nice looking speaker cables using the NM tubing here. I wonder if there's another company who makes it in something besides black.

As you already figured out, it was the NM, which of course wasn't something I remembered. What I like about that cover is that it is tough. It will take something extreme to damage it. It looks pretty good, too, but unfortunately, you can have any color you want as long as it is black.

There has to be someone out there selling something similar in different colors. I'll poke around and see what I can find. Some of that sleeving can get rather expensive from what I remember, though.

I did buy chrome metallic mylar sleeving from wirecare, but haven't used it as of yet. Looking at it now, I'm not so sure I would like it, but that's not a problem as I don't have a cable it would fit over presently anyhow. I think I was intending to use it on a center channel speaker cable, but I ended up using Canare 4S11 there and that sleeving definitely won't fit over that cable.

That's my one concern - price getting too out of hand. Do you remember what size you ordered? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this material is expandable, but not so much as the PET flex tubing. I'll be putting this stuff over Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 cable.

I've spent the good part of today trying to organize my interconnect project together so I can get the parts ordered. Have you come across this Head-Fi thread? Lots of older pictures are missing, but still fun to look through what's still there. Note the number of pages the thread has.
 
I ordered the 5/16" diameter to cover Belden 5T00UP speaker cable, which I purchased from Blue Jeans Cable. It took a bit of time to work the sleeving over the speaker cable, but it worked out in the end. The NM sleeving was just flexible enough to expand enough. I don't recall exactly what the OD of the Belden cable is, but I'm guessing it was 3/8". It measures in the range of 3/8". It is actually an oblong shape, but that is what I'd call it.

I haven't seen the Head-Fi thread you posted, I'll check that out now. Looks pretty interesting at a glance. Damn! That is a hell of a lot of pages!

For interconnects, some of the diyers use hollow cotton shoelaces. Very supple, inexpensive and can be had in various colors. It's just a suggestion that you may want to keep in mind.
