Pioneer CS-77 recap question

Hi folks:

I've got a pair of CS-77 speakers I'd like to recap, but I have a question about the caps as they don't look like any caps I've seen before.

As you can see from the attached files, the midrange has a 12uF cap and the tweeter gets a 2.4uF cap. Is there anything I should know about these caps that I should keep in mind when getting replacements?

Any suggestions for caps I should try/avoid, etc. would be greatly apprecaited!

Oh, and does anyone know about the level control? It seems sealed and I'd like to give it a DeOxit bath but can't see how to get it in there :scratch2:

Basically, conventional wisdom is to use newer polypropylene, mylar or polyester caps or some such in crossovers.

AFAIK electrolytics cause more distortion in the sound. I've only ever read this and can't give an explaination as to why exactly this is the case. Of course, if you want to keep a closer to original sound newer electrolytics might be the job for you.

Electros of that age most likely have degraded a bit. Good to replace them. The pot might need to be removed from the board, then you will see a way in to clean it.
