i've emailed with the seller, or at least the advertiser - got to keep my game sharp, after all ;)

these are the real deal, probably worth what they are asking if working properly and in as decent a shape as this one looks. that's the 825 pro cab, right?

Copy of 828 cab, not an Altec built cab or an original system. The crossover is out of a model 15 or similar, the proper crossover of that style would be an N1209 or N1285, both of which have dual 1/4 inputs on the faceplate and lettering oriented for horizontal positioning, further they would be mounted in a flange in an original cabinet. The mounting flange allows the use of factory crossovers of either aspect ratio as well as installation of the 771 bi-amplifier.

Also looks like the cabinets are fairly chewed up around the mouth of the horn(bass horn) where some sort of grill was mounted at some point.

Until the complete driver load can be determined, i'd assume a few hundred worth of parts at the most.

Just my .02...............

interesting. well, the driver load is at least good: 802-8G and 416-8B.
I might go as far as to say excellent. But if you take the plunge, verify both cabs before you hand over the cash.

Would the seller oblige you with what it says on the crossover plates?

Could be that someone parted out a pair of 19's to load those and just traded out the 811's for 511's along the way, while the XO frequency is far from ideal the 19 XO's would add a couple hundred to the sweetness of the deal.

FWIW, just because the boxes are clones isn't necessarily a bad thing, they look like they followed the prints quite closely except for the large flanged opening in the back panels, good clones won't sound a bit different than factory boxes.

Those are very nice drivers, but like bowtie said, the model 19 XO sure would make those drivers sound a lot better than what they are currently using. And for 1K i would make that plunge pretty fast, before someone else does.

Okay, what tells you this? It looks like a late model mdf cabinet painted black to me. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just have no idea what you're seeing.
Missing the wood flange around the crossover opening on the back panel, every factory box i've seen with that bracing scheme has had the flange. This alone makes one take a much closer look at the rest, no visible T-nuts at the 12 and 6 oclock positions, lower front panel has no evidence of the grill fasteners that would have been installed at the factory, the joint where the horn flares meet the side panels of the cabinet along the front edge appear irregular.

Also did you notice the factory lettering on the crossover faceplate? It was made to be vertically mounted and has no input terminals(like a 15 or 19), someone has just drilled a hole and installed a single 1/4 inch input next to the crossover.

I wouldn't bet a lot of money either way from those pics, but they're enough to make me very suspicious, i see more evidence of them being non factory than evidence of them being factory cabs.

ordinarily i'd go check them out, but a) it would take the whole day driving and i still wouldn't be able to fit them in my car, and b) i already turned down a good deal on Numbdiver's A-7's (though this 802-8G is a step up apparently). sounds like somebody ought to grab them, though!

I'm thinking you've looked at a lot more blurry pictures than I have

PM sent on a similar matter.
