I have only been working on it since 1983. Yeah I know the plasma was not around then but you get my drift.
Finally after years of wanting the 'out of my price range' KURO I got a deal on a PRO-111 FD this year.

Please excuse the photography as I am still learning this Rebel camera, at the moment I am mediocre at best with it.
Will roll in some new better pics with some sunlight coming in thru the windows in the near future.
For now enjoy the 3rd rate photos I have so far.

I use the term 'Home Theater' loosely as it's NOT a real HT but thats what everyone identifies with most of the time.

How things have changed!!

HT System includes: 50" PRO-111FD Plasma 1080p, VSX-9500S surround receiver/amp, DVD, DVD rec. w/HDD, LaserDisc, VHS, PS3 Blu Ray, Xbox 360, multiple EQ's for center & rears, Expander, Reverb unit, Color Correction Unit, Switching Router w/optical inputs/outputs, CD rec., MiniDisc rec., DAT, 6-Cassette changer, Pioneer 3-way center spkr, JBL 3-way rear towers.

SPEC Stereo system includes: SPEC-1 pre-amp, SPEC-2 250 wpc amp, RT-909 Reel 2 Reel, U24 Switcher, SG-9500 EQ, TX-9500 II tuner, CT-F1250 cass., CT-F1000 cass., PL-88F turntable,
P-D70 CD player, SR-303 reverb unit, SG-2 Expander, (2) DBX 200 Routers, (4) Realistic MACH Twos adorned w/Super Tweeters. Custom dealer lighted sign.
Had to compromise and move out the 8-tracks, & one expander to make room for now.

Anytime I watch movies, video concerts, or play video games both the VSX & SPEC's are used together to run the surround. SPEC's run the front Left & Right while the VSX runs the Center & Rears and sends the LFT/RHT output to the SPEC's. Sound is fantatic this way! IMHO

Just added mini timer, mini reverb, bottom shelf under plasma, along with black DVR w/250 gig HDD to the left black stack & took out the silver components.

I love it - tryin desperately to get hold of a lot of that equipment such as the RT-909 have yet to try and SPEC amps - what speakers are you using for front Right and Left?
 
how do you like your VSx 9500s? I like mine, which i use in the bedroom. But currently just for two channel, which sounds wonderful.

Love my VSX9500S. I am the guy who usually is behind the times. Oldschool type. Did not get into CD's until around 86'. Took me till 1999 to get into DVD movies & a player. Did not have surround till around 2001.

Have no desire to graduate to 6.1 or 7.1 system. I like the heft, weight and build of the 9500. It sounds good and does what I need it too.
Don't need a newer receiver with HDMI inputs I just plug all those direct into the monitor. The remaining RCA analog video/audio goes into the 9500.

It has a great warm sound, good balance between center, rears, & fronts if you play around with it enough. Of course putting a SPEC setup into the mix to run the fronts doesn't hurt either!
I know there is better out there but I am content with things the way they are for now.
 
Madpioneer, I like the fact that it has Pre/out and Main /in, jacks in the rear.
I would love to try out the prologic component of it. So many ways to use the reciever. So little stuff to utilise it with.
Despite haveing lots of audio gear...heeheh!
 
Just nailed a PIONEER DVR-650H recorder w/250 gig HDD, replacing my 80 gig ilo. So now the left (black) stack will almost be completely PIONEER, with the exception of a color corrector, a console switcher & a Mitsubishi VCR.

Yes and the jumpers for both the center and the rears are a mega plus!
If you want to add EQ's or even play with other PIONEER surround processors.

Most of the 5.1, 6.1, & 7.1 low/mid range and even some higher end receivers I see are absent jumpers in the back. Not that you would need them but I do praise PIONEER for thinking ahead & overkill with this older stuff.
Makes my journey alot more pleasant in my audio pursuit!
 
never thought of using external surround processors. I need more interconnects and bi ampable speakers. Maybe i can use it to tri amp my technics sb 400 speakers.
That dvr looks promising with 250 gigs.
 
that room has to get warm with all that gear on... do the light dimm throught the neigborhood when you power everything up?

You would be surprised that the heat is not easily noticed unless you get very close to the gear. If I put a game disc in the Xbox which is just under the monitor I can feel some slight heat from the plasma panel. I notice it most after everything is shut down and I walk in front of the monitor to go to the other room.
There is about 2 feet of open space between the back of the monitor and wall, & roughly 4 to 6 inches clearance on both stacks. Plus I have 5" fans that power up with the surround amp and the SPEC-2 to help pull hot air away from the gear.
I have a vaulted ceiling in the living area so the heat goes up high pretty quickly.
So there is heat just not extreme like you might think.

Although the summer heat is just starting to show up we have been getting some coolfronts in here so the monthly electricity bill is steady around $57.00 for the moment until June, then around $78.00.

I own the same KURO and it does put out some heat if you happen to move very close to it on the front.Mine is completely open on all sides,so it's not any other equipment producing it.

I hear ya! My previous 40" plasma was a heater too. It had much louder cooling fans than the 111.

I sit 6ft away from the monitor when viewing, but I only notice the heat when I put my hands near the screen or walking close by it.

I never notice an extreme amount of heat in the room even with all this gear running.

To tell you the truth the most heat I notice and electronic smell comes from my VSX-9500S surround receiver/amp, but only getting close up too it.
I suppose the design of it running the main output transistor full out all the time is the main cause of heat. I have two and they both run the same.
