Yes you can adjust the suspension on those. get your self a deep 7mm socket. What i generally do on mine is get the table level then fine tune it. I like to run mine on the spongy side. Just make sure you get the platter level. Even if you haave to shim under the feet it's no big deal. Did you just get yours. What condition is it in?
Turning the screws clock wise will raise the plinth and of coarse counter clock wise will lower it.

To be more exact, there are four springs exposed on the underside of the turntable. There's a nut in the center of each that adjusts the compliance of each of the springs.
When I was working on my SL-1700Mk2, I used a dining room table that took a leaf. I leveled out the table, and "opened" it up to leave a gap between the two sides. I was then able to reach the springs from the underside while the turntable was sitting on a stable level surface.

I've had it about a month. Besides some minor oxidation around the edge of the platter it's in fantastic shape. The story is that it was used as a dj table in a club for about 2 years... and it sat in storage for 15 years.
I'm not sure if anyone did any scratching on it or if it was just used to play music... however, it did have a slipmat on it when i got it. It almost seems implausible that it was used as a dj table since it's in such great shape. The dust cover is pretty much free of scratches... I'm super happy with it.
Thanks for the info! I assume I just adjust it from the bottom of the table? Mine definitely needs to be more spongy... if i walk heavily across the floor i can hear my footsteps thru the speakers.

Since it was used as a DJ table I'd check to see if the arm bearings were Ok. Do a google search for the 1200 arm bearing test and you should fine some video on how to check it or try Youtube as well.

Thanks for the tips, I went out and picked up a 7mm socket today and made some adjustments. It took a couple of tries to get it right. Seems like there's a sweet spot in the middle, if you're too tight or too loose it seems to either hit the top or the bottom when it gets a good shock...
I had to stick a couple of quarters under my front legs to get the platter nice and level as I don't think my shelf is completely level. Seems to be working great so far!

Glad to have helped as I have two modded SL1800MKII's. What cartridge are you using with yours?

As to guessing what cartridges i like Yes and no at the moment I'm using a mystery ADC cartridge and I love it.
I'm also a big fan of the Nagaoka MP11 as well as some others. As to mods my Black sl1800MKII has a 1210M5G arm rewired with cardas and my Dark red has a standard 1200 arm it's has cardas as well On the Black one I upgraded the cables to Monsters and on the other one it's Belden 1505F with neutric RCA plugs.
I'd say upgrade the cables rewire the arm with cardas.

It's an M75ED type 2 which I pulled off my Dual 1229.

Hi I'd at least at this point upgrade the cables. Then see what you think. Some say they don't hear any difference between the stock arm wire and the cardas to my ears it does make a difference, I found that it seem to open up my whole system but it was subtle and some cartridges did sound better. If your using an older Shure they seem to sound best with higher capacitance of around 400 to 500 pf.

With my SL-1600 i am presently using an AT-15XE, sounds and tracks very well.
I have also used my 681EEE with stereohedron needle, but its getting worn so i dont spin it a lot.
