I don't know about serious abuse. Misguided attemps to repair the expected deterioration of the foam suspension...yes. I did not look to hard, but it looks like they can be sweetened up.

Hi Rich, long time no see!

Also looks like they tore off the woofer trim rings too. You can bet there's more damage to those woofers than meets the eye if they were run loud with that ill attempt at a surround fix.
 
Looks like a proper refoam would take care of it, actually. I mean, I wouldn't count on any of the drivers working from that listing, but I would not be super concerned about the surround job in particular. That silicon or whatever it is hopefully prevented any VC damage. $650? No thank you. At first glance I thought the seller's name was "Flippie", which seemed fitting.
 
Maybe if his starting bid price was half of what he has it listed. These will need a bit of work. Both tweeter dust caps are pushed in too.:thumbsdn:
 
It's too bad they are hacked they look pretty nice otherwise. If I could check them out in person I'd maybe go 150.00 or something.
