Well I am off in the morning to pick up another console. It is a mystery ampex that contains and 008 tuner and thats all I know, no photos no nothing. [Edited by Moderator] Its 52" long and 19" wide. Time to get ready to man handle it into the benz, of course this is by my self adventure.

You guys in CA get all the luck. Odds are it's the same as the one you parted out and I bought the woofers. Or perhaps it's the dual mono block 6973's which would net you more cash.

This is what I am hoping, that one was lighter and fit in my back seat :D The last one I got it took 3 of us to lift it in the trunk of the benz...yes that was a long trip home from Sacromento. Needles to say I had to keep the heavyset of the two.

Well I'm hoping for another one of those for you as well but since they made about 400 times more of the smaller 6973 based consoles odds are it's going to be one of those. Post some pics when you get it.

Well its in the car, going to drag it out after lunch...lets just say its not the freanch providential that I was hoping for. Time for the telefunken to hit the curb as this one will stay whole....again...Also got some other tube goodies out of her garage :D

I haven't determined if its luck or a curse :D I don't have the room but its seems everything I tend to find console wise is just to nice to break out the axe. Its even worse when they turn out to be danish modern. Well here it is. I will plug it back in and see what shes capable of, as I have no hum at all.

Bueno! It's the dual mono block 6973 setup with 008 tuner and separate preamp. Probably the best combo value wise when you're talking about a lower end Ampex console.

It was great, she gave a great history. The mono stuff on top was part of her husbands first setup before they got married. They then got married, and the lady who owned the ampex(believe it was her aunt), bought them a console from Montgomery Wards and then we she passed they got the ampex because Ampex meant quality. Her son then turned the other console into a terrarium for his iguana. She stated that they didn't need the money and she just didn't want to see it go to the land fill. I just wish I got the huge speaker that went with the mono rig. Plugged the ampex back in and it sounds great, turntable works fine. I think something came lose in the move as I had it upside down, there is a lot of static in one channel and the radio doesn't play through both channels. Maybe tomorrow I will pull it all part and give everything a clean.
