They sold for ~$150/pair new, I think, if I'm thinking about the same speakers. A local guy was trying to sell 2 for $60 or 4 for $100, and couldn't find buyers. I'd say if all of the drivers are OK you did fine.

Thank you for the info..
The drivers look very good, I played a Neil Young CD, Massey Hall. Sounded real! Very good! Played Flat as always.

Now see what the wife says about another pair of speakers in the LR?:scratch2:

Thanks,

Those are the ones that say "Decade Series" across the front, right? I always see them for sale, never heard them. They never seem to go quickly but for what you paid, how wrong could you be?

Yup, that is what they have on the front. I am still testing today with different sources of sound. So Far they passed.

The specs say they can handle 175 watts of power. That would blow out my windows! I am using a 30 watt amp to test and they sound very good, clear, live!

I think you answered your own question. :D

Pretty good deal for the price of a couple good pizzas, and should last a lot longer.

Enjoy your find!!

Thank you,
Yeah, sometimes I just type without reading what I am actually typing...
Good medium size speaker.

My son gave a set of D38's he had bought at Best Buy some years back. I like them a lot, very nice sound for inexpensive speakers. I use them with a powered sub and they sound even better. I still feel that almost any 8" or smaller speaker can be vastly improved w/ a powered sub. I even use subs with 12" and 15" 3-way speakers and get a bit better bottom end.

I know this is an old thread but I just got these today in very close to mint condition after wiping down. Testing them with various music and wow they sound really good! Lots of detail coming through. Really sweet sounding speakers! Wow impressive! They have quite a unique shape and quite compact for a 3-way. Amazed at the sound considering the hollow feeling of the box as I was skeptical upon first look but they were a good deal. These are my first speakers with what appears to be a paper cone tweeter.
