Pioneer A-27

Ran across this on a craigslist ad a month or more ago buried in the description for some speakers. He had mentioned posting it in the future so I called him and have been trying to get a chance to meet up since.
Well today we were finally able to get together and let me tell you this thing is very nice. It is in good shape with some minor scratches on the aluminum side pieces from being moved in and out of a tight spot and a small spot on the function knob.
It is also quite big, being almost as large as my SX-1250 both dimensionally and weight.
Well enough chit chat how about a picture.

I forgot to mention it's all mine for the very lucky price of $200. I'm very excited about this one

Nice :thmbsp:
I don't know anything about it but that is one sweet looking amp.

Thanx for the pic
PS,,,what year is it made?

Thank you it is quite a nice unit with very little info available. From what TVK has listed it was built between 1978-1980 and is very rare as are most of the series 20 components.

Very sweet. I've been keeping my eye out for one of those for a few months now, with no luck. Those are supposed to be the real deal.

WANT!

A really nice looking amplifier, and a steal at the price you paid. I've always liked the clean lines of the Series 20 gear...

I have not had much time with it but i did play a few of my normal test songs through some HPM 100's.
Some Willie, Norah Jones and some Jennifer Warnes (way down deep) and i am very impressed. It is a very clean sounding and musical amp.
After reading more about the 20 series I really do like it but it seems to be a love it/hate it for a lot of people. My brother thinks its as ugly as my CR-1040 which he does not like at all.
I think he's just jealous (Hi Jason)

Excellent score! I have one of these and it's the absolute favorite in my collection. I paid 3X what you did and still considered it a bargain. Give it plenty of room above to vent heat as it runs pretty warm (Class A operation) and let er rip!

Sweet! I have always wanted one but karma still hasn't come my way. Awesome find, especially for the price! :thmbsp:

How about some nudies of that amplifier!

Josh that looks nice..ill trade you the M-90 / C-90 for it.. its 200wpc looks great and for jason, its glows orange in the dark :D

That's not your M90/C90 yet so you can't really offer it up as a trade. What am I saying I wouldn't trade you even if it was yours.
I was just listening to it and have now switched to the 1250 for comparison. They both sound so nice I could not pick a favorite if I had too.

Jason knows I have glowing amps also and he actually just got finished modifying his 8802 with parts from my 222. I also have a pre that glows that's something he doesn't have.

He does however have a mentor now that will teach him lots and he will likely end up with one nice amp. I will have to take his scraps someday.

My little helper pointing out that there seems to be some bulging caps in there. Guess i will have to find out if there is a suitable replacement.
