Fisher-philes: You know you want Avery's very own gear.

Look what was in my e-mail this morning:

Dear Friends

I am pleased to announce that the eBay sale of the personal sets of Avery Fisher will commence next Friday, October 22nd.

The sale will include:

70-A Model Block
TFM-1000 Stereo Tuner
400-CX

The items will be sold separately and are sold as is.

I will make another announcement next Thursday.

A letter of authentication will accompany each piece and reserves will be announced at the commencement of the sale.

Sincerely,

Chip

Heh - would have been funny if he ran Mc or Marantz gear.....

Maybe that's the living room system and the mc gear was in the bedroom.....:D

Ok.. then in that case, I'm going to have to question the validity of this, supposedly written by Avery.... You really think he would make the mistake of calling a monoblock a modelblock?

Avery died in Feb. 1994. This is his son, he's been selling off a bunch of Fisher odds and ends lately. It's legit.

I wonder if the 400-CX is the CX or CX2? Both say "CX" on the faceplate.

aaaaahhh.. Ok.. I didn't know that, and that's why it hit me as so strange that he'd call it a model block..

What's up with the TFM-1000 mixed in with the earlier tube pieces? I'd love to have that 400-CX.

I'm still wondering if it's a CX (oval buttons, flat faceplate) or CX2 (round buttons, extruded aluminum faceplate). Both bring plenty of money, but the CX2 seems to really haul in the interest. Looking forward to seeing the auction listings, to say the least!

The pics wil be interesting and tell the story. Considering where the auctions have been ending up lately it will be real interesting to watch.

I don't even want to think of the number of 2nd mortgages I'd have to take out just to get in the top 5 bidders.....DAMN!!!
