It seems to be an entry level SACD/CD player

Without knowing much, I would presume it is a standard quality multi-format player, in which DSD is converted into PCM and therefore not a true SACD player but rather one that converts it to the CD format while playing. I wouldn't be very excited about it.

Yeah, I know all SACD players at this price range convert to PCM first. It converts 24-bit 192kHz (afaik) though, so should be an improvement over regular CDs anyway.
I am just looking for a CD player (SACD is not necessary) for around 200€ and this thing at 209.90€ caught my eye. There just seems to be no solid information apart from Sony's website and that press release all those blog posts are based on.

I wouldn't assume that this player converts DSD to PCM. I really don't think Sony has ever made a player that converts DSD to PCM.
This may have been common in the early years of SACD, but since a good many of the newer DACs can directly accept DSD input, there is really no good reason to do it.
