That’s right: Yamaha RX-V450 has not outboard sound processor monitoring function.
should i connect denon 1940 analog rca to onkyo pre amp, phono, eq, etc. then to analog in to cd in at rx-v450?
“denon 1940 analog rca to onkyo pre amp, phono, eq, etc.” – What do you mean by this? What “onkyo pre amp”? What “phono, eq, etc.”?

thank you portkula. what i have is an onkyo component system. phono, tuner cassette, eq, p-3150v pre amp, m-5130 amp. i bought the yamaha for multi channel listening. i connected my denon multi channel dvd player optical in to the yamaha. followed the instructions; 4 speakers, no subwoofer. it sounds good but i want more bass. so i tryed to connect the eq which you know does'nt work. so should i connect the dvd player, phono, eq, to the onkyo pre amp then connect pre amp to the yamaha at the rca cd input? i'd have 2 volume controls, 1 on the pre amp and 1 on the yamaha. would i turn the pre amp volume control all the way down and use the volume control only on the yamaha?

I’ve consulted the Service Manuals of your p-3150v pre amp and m-5130 amp.

When this Onkyo component system is not multi-channel, but two-channel stereo, and you cannot use your denon multi channel dvd player in multi-channel mode with it, why to return the signal from the p-3150v pre amp into the Yamaha, and not to listen to it in the two-channel stereo mode through the p-3150v pre amp and m-5130 amp, with the possibility to manage it with your onkyo eq connected to the “Tape 2/Monitor” “IN” and “OUT” terminals, as it’s shown in the paper?
