Vintage Sanyo mystery speakers model ???

I just pulled the trigger on these speakers on Epay:

Anybody got a clue to what I got?

Seller says that there is no model number to be found on the speakers anywhere, they are (circa) 17.5" high, 12" wide and 7" deep. The the "multicellar cone" in front of the tweeter can turn from side to side

what do you plan to do w/these? low fi speakers but maybe all you need. hope you did not spend much.
 
We are having a Vintage meet soon, all us guys at a forum in Denmark, and we are having a shootout of small speakers (max 20 liters in size) and since I´m in the process of selling my Sansui SP-L700´s I thought these could be fun to have as a transfer speaker, till I find something larger/better. I payed 50 Euro´s for them (cirka 67 Dollars) including freight from Germany.

-jimfet I´m not sure but I think these are pretty old, around 1968-1970 I would say. I base that on the design of the sign on the front-grill.

Owch. Hate to say it, but those aren't worth more than $5 or so IMO.

I got given a pair very similar to that, badged Ferguson instead. Very thin vinyl-clad cabinet walls and only a cheap electrolytic cap in series with the woofer in the way of a crossover. I passed them on to someone else rather quickly...

The tweeter is a rather below average cone driver hidden behind what's supposed to look like a multicellular horn, but it doesn't do anything apart from make it sound echo-y and generally worse. The horn is just there for cosmetics. Meanwhile, the woofer is just as cheaply made, with a magnet which make a clock radio look positively over-engineered.

Sorry to break the news to you...but there's a chance yours might not be the same as mine. Posting some pics inside would be helpful - the back panel should unscrew.

Haven´t got them home yet, but will do when they get here. 50 bucks is peanuts here for speakers, you pay that in Charity shops. I did not expect to win the shootout with them either, not against Rogers l3/5a´s and AR´s. If they suck, I got plans and a set of Fostex drivers that need a home
 
Looks sure can be decieving. I brought home a pair of RS speakers that look strikingly similar to those. They were a yard sale find for the price of a small coffee. I popped the back off and saw a couple of very sorry looking drivers. To the landfill they went. Didn't even bother to play them or screw the back on. The front sure looked impressive though.
