Some winter puttering and a RCM

Hi all,

Been puttering around in the man cave this winter, putting together a DIY Loricraft Style Record Cleaning Machine.

Biggest inspiration came from edd9000 and his DIY RCM thread:

I started with this.... Can I braze brass?

And it turned out after a few tries I could... after some annealing and bending I came up with this:

The arm's is attached to a defunct Pioneer PL12. was able to remove the original arm from the pivot, drill the pivot hole out a bit, and just interference fit the brass arm.

Made sure the design had an integrated thread spool holder:

And also attached a teflon fitting which was the inflation fitting from my wife's blow-up exersice ball.

Again, big inspiration from ed9000 I picked up an Arduino Microcontroller. (It came packaged like a pack of Italian Cigs...

And some old RC car servos, one for the arm rotation, one working the stock PL12D arm lift..

And you end up with the beginings of an RCM..... (the Arduino microcontroler is on the right hand side of the RCM)

brushed up on my programming.... came up with a script from the examples at the Arduino website... and I we've got automation...

I think I need a smaller spur gear for the rotation to get more articulation out of the arm. Also perusing ebay for used vacuum pumps like a fiend. The shop vac I'm currently hooked into works, but is just way too loud.

Last 5% always takes 95% of the time..

Seeing the finish line on this project. I was able to get a nice GAST air pump a couple of month's ago from Ebay, and fine tuned the machine till I got it to work real nice:banana:

This weekend, while working alongside my SL-1700mk2 rehaul, I started to make an acrylic top surface, along with a maple surround (practice for the Maple surround I'll be making later for the SL-1700)..
