Sansui BA5000.

I have a chance to buy a BA 5000 but the price is on the high side.
Just how good is the BA5000 sound wise?
Currently i am using the AU20000 for power and a recapped CA3000 as the pre in one system.
I know they are rare and collectible but is it worth it to give up the AU20000 for one?
That's the only way i could afford it is to give up the AU20000 and then ad cash.

Thank you!

If I could afford it that way, and if I had the chance, I would do it. Btw, the pre-amp section of the AU-20000 and the CA-3000 are pretty much the same.

You already have the pre in the CA-3000 so I would think the AU-20000 might be redundant (although I have 2)but it really boils down to what your speakers require... do you need 300wpc @ 8,4, and 2 ohms? My Infinity RSIIb do need at LEAST that.... you would have to pry my BA-5000 from my cold dead hands.

Perhaps i worded things wrong.
I already have a AU20000 and am aware that the AU20000 is a combination of the BA3000 and CA3000.
My CA3000 is recapped with Blackgates which i think sounds better which is why i am using it as a pre and not the AU20000.
I am considering letting the AU20000 go to afford the BA5000 but have never heard the BA5000.
Does the BA5000 sound better then the BA3000 (AU20000)?
My speakers are rated at 350wpc @6ohms.

one thing to consider is the ba5000 uses ouput transformers which the ba 3000 and au 20000 do not.i've never heard a ba 5000 but do love my ba 3000.the au 2000 is close to the ba3000/ca3000 but they have their differences.sice you have the ca3000 already and has been recapped i'd jump on the ba 5000.

...My BA 5K sounds Different than my BA2K , that's for sure - it sounds better , if you want my Opinion - just because it's ability to Push the deep frequencies in some very special way....

The 5K sounds a bit like a Tube-amp , anyway - you should keep your AU 20000 and enjoy both of them...:D

I was within a hair of pulling the trigger on a semi local ba5000 a couple weeks ago. Then I got to thinking why not go for the real McCoy. The 5000 is sansui's version of the mc2300. I opted for the 2300's 500wpc bigger brother for less than the 5000 which also was local. Never ever thought I'd say I was glad that I passed on a ba5000 but in this instance I sure am.

The BA-5000 flat out Rocks. Most internet pictures don't do this Amp justice. If at all possible I would figure a way to keep both. In the past I have had to give up something in order to free up $$$ for something else. Never sits well with me. But in the end justified I guess. I love my BA-5K all 108 lbs of It

Buy the BA-5000 if you have a chance.... they are expensive WHEN or if they ever come around but worth it. The amp section of the AU-20000 can't even compare to the BA-5000 to my ears and power wise. Sounds like your speakers would really shine with the extra power. The 2 problems with the McIntosh mc2300 are 1) Really ugly 2) NOT a Sansui.

Wow, that is CLEAN.... Congrats! You WILL be impressed. $500 for that plus your AU-20000 is a bargain.

Never sold the AU20000 yet, the $500.00 came in handy to deduct off the cost of the amp:)......
I paid some good coin for it!:scratch2:

Very Very pleased with the amp, it sounds great!
First LP played......AC/DC- Back in Black!

congratulations on scoring a BA-5000, that is one Sansui Amp I would gladly donate a Kidney for.

I am kicking myself for passing up a mint BA-5000 early last year. I had little knowledge of Sansui gear back then, I had first option on it but hesitated and went off to do some research on what a BA-5000 was. By the time I discovered what it was and called the seller back it was sold. The seller had no idea how valuable it was as it was inherited from a deceased estate. Was sold for $500 AU.

Oh the pain ...

Congrats to you on winning both the lottery ticket and that beautiful looking 5000. Wow that monster is in very nice condition.
