$10K :yikes: If I had a comparable system and 10K laying around I would have bought it

I only had time to listen to it for 15-20 mins. The salesman was cool.

If I had $10K I'd get an EMT - A REAL table. A 930 Idler if I was LUCKY (probably dreaming) or a 948 Direct Drive (real possible).

Isn't it fun listening to gear that far out of reach? I love spending time at my local shop. The guys there are great.

However, I have to resist the urge to tell you you should just buy a Technics SL-1200 and save $9,500.

You can't tell the difference between a 1200 and Red Ed and the VPI setup in a controlled DBT anyway :D

Listening to the helplessly out of reach esoteric stuff can be a lot of fun, I heard an Infinity IRS V system a little while back. If I ever hit the lotto I'm picking up a pair and a couple thousand watts of McIntosh to drive them :drool:

That's really pretty. I didn't really like it when I saw the first picture of it- I'm too used to the walnut Classic- but its really grown on me. I'd love to hear it. I like the periphery ring- I kind of want one, but its so expensive.

Kidding - looks pretty cool. When I eventually pull the trigger on a Classic - I'll look for nice walnut version like JohnVF has.

You can pick up a used one off A'gon for about 70% of new, but you gotta be FAST.

What's the Benz Ebony sell for?

Beefy plinth, quality bearing, massive heavyweight platter, quality arm- what's not to like?

The Classic 3 is a fine looking table, though I really prefer the walnut base of the Classic 1/2. There's something about the "AR XA on steroids" look that really resonates with me.

And BTW the Benz Ebony retails for around $3,500.
 
If I sold my wife's car.........then gave her the TT as a gift...........I could use it as well.............:scratch2:
