Tuner st7001 vs st-15s1

Hi. Just changede the setup from Mcintosh to Marantz sc-11s1 and sm-11s1.
So now i am considering changing my marantz st-7001 dab tuner for the matching st-15s1 tuner. But is it only the design that has changed. Looking on the back of the tuners they look very similar. Is it just money out the window.
i have tried google to find some pictures from the inside of the tuners, but cant find any.

Where are you located? I don't think Marantz sells these tuners in the US, because there's no DAB here. I have the 11 series amp/preamp/cd set up, and would be interested if Marantz introduced a tuner with similar peformance and the same styling in the US market. Pretty unlikely that'll happen, though, since most US FM stations are processed to death, so there's not much call for good tuners here anymore.
 
I live in denmark. Fortunately we still have some pretty good live broadcastings on the national radio, so a good tuner can still be used.
 
I was thinking about getting the cd-player but decided on a computerbased setup. So now i am using a apple with Channel d pure music and a benchmark dac1 usb. So now i dont have to worry about burned out lasers, i just have to remember to back-up my harddisk. it works like a charm and sounds great.
 
I was never big on computer based systems in my audio gear. I've tried it with iPods, DACs, etc... and the good old CD with the CDP of course sounds much fuller. Just my take.

But I do use an iPod for "general" background listening and sometimes headphone listening at times.

Ok, so i did not get the tuner this weekend, hopefully i will get it on saturday. It is a whole different story using an ipod vs a computer as source. Unless you use uncompressed files and pure digital out of the ipod. But the most important thing is that we both found a solution that works for us :-)

ST-7001 in the US is an AM/FM/XM model that primarily gets used in custom installation projects due to its RS-232 control connections. Sonically, pretty decent but nothing truly exceptional. Pricing bears this out...right around $400 IIRC

In Denmark we also use the DAB signals but not the AM/XM signals. I would really like to know if it is the same electronics inside the ST 7001(which i own) and the st-15s1 or if it will be an upgrade.
 
So i finally recieved the ST-15s1, and i can now confirm it is the exact same as the ST 7001, design and handling interface apart. On the mainbord it is stamped 7001DAB, but on ST-15s1 they put a sticker over the 7001, to hide it. but that was easy to remove. So if you dont need the design, you might as well by the cheaper one used.

Wow. Pretty disappointing that it's the same unit electrically...although I have to admit, the ST-15s1 is a much more handsome unit...I just LOVE that "gyro-tune" tuning wheel
