Know about a Kenwood KR-77 receiver?

I picked up a Kenwood KR-77 receiver at my favorite source, the neighborhood garbage. Just sitting on a can waiting to be rescued. I can not find out anything about it. It says total wattage 90 but I doubt the amp puts that out. Anybody know of its power and other specs?

By the way, it has a problem with one weak channel (surprise, surprise but you would think people would only throw out good, working junk, shame, shame). The left channel is only about 1/6 power. It has 2N3055 and 2SD371 power transistors. Any ideas?

From what I see, it is rated IHF at 75W at 4 ohm, 56W at 8 ohm, Continuous power each channel driven at 24W each channel....

PS I like the name Charlie, it was my dads name.

KR-77 - I own two

The likely reason that your KR-77 is weak on one channel is because they used a first generation IC to route all of the audio through. That IC tends to go bad - your symptoms are classic. It's a ua703 - still available.

If you don't want the receiver I'd be willing to take it off your hands. There were two types - no black-out dial (early) and blackout dial.

I've owned one since 1970. I also look for them (and the KR-100) on Ebay and like restoring them. I always update the lamps to my LED fuse lamps.
