I can see why few people get files there.. there are a lot of .shn or shortened files.. few players will decompress them, or you have to get a stand alone decompressor.. Added work...
 
I have used this site for quite awhile.Got lots of good stuff off there. Its all live recorded shows so quality varies.Love the Schwag shows...Great America Taxi...JJ Grey & Mofro... always finding new good stuff.
Itunes decompresses the zip files.
 
I've been getting files there for years. Soundboards seem to be the best. Look closely at the descriptions.

Would love to see JJ someday. Some good shows on the Archive from New Riders Of The Purple Sage & North Miss Allstars also...
You can listen to a ton of Dead shows also but cant download.

. . . there are HUNDREDS of Grateful Dead concerts from 70's - 80's (?? not a fan so not positive) These archived concerts are offered for free from the band. I Think I read on the forums there that they are all complete concerts; no editing or anything, just soundboard as far as I know. Huge forum on the Grateful Dead concert archives which goes into the details of all the concerts, most-(??)-by people who were there at the shows themselves.
Thought fans might like to know this if they Didn't already. These archived concerts evidently comprise about 20%-25% of Archive.org's entire traffic/downloads. (I never heard any of these so some info may be outdated/incorrect; I am only going by my memory of when I briefly checked out the "Dead-Archives" a few years ago out of curiosity.)

Pretty cool poking around in there.

I have found several shows I attended at the Ark in Ann Arbor. We have often sat next to the guy recording the shows and I have wondered what kinda recordings he gets. Looks like there are some Cowboy Junkies, JJ Grey and MOFRO, The Macpodz, and the Ragbirds from the same taper.

Will be digging around more this weekend.

Just grabbed the Gomez set from Rotbury.

Just wish there was a primer/pointers on this somewhere. I assume that the additional files after the music could be a way to name the tracks and artist without having to copy and paste it all into ITUNES Get Info page?
 
I download the zip vbr files to my computer then open them with itunes, dont know if thats decompressing but seems to be great quality sound.I dont know a easy way to do the track listing...
