A few weeks back I went to an estate sale in the area to pick up some furniture. I was distracted by a pair of speakers and missed out on the furniture I went to get. I did grab this fine piece of maybe custom made furniture

I couldn't open the top as it had a bunch of stuff on it for sale so I stuck my arm in the back and felt the sleek design of a vacuum tube. At this point I grabbed the sale tag off and put a sold tag on. I cleared off the top and opened it up to see this

A nice SAE preamp (IXB), a low end but kinda cool auto Kenwood tuner (KT-413) and a tube Ampex R2R unit.

Being a bit let down there was not a sweet tube preamp and tuner in it I quickly pulled it away from the wall to reveal the amp

A McIntosh MC225 in dusty but good condition. She is all cleaned up now and awaiting packaging for a trip to Terry DeWick for a full overhaul.

Man. Can I come by and maybe some of your good mojo might rub off?

Once the dust has been removed from that I have a feeling that it will be mintish.

I have a very conflicted feeling here Paul. I either feel like shaking your hand or kicking you in the pants (gently) :D

Interesting mix of stuff. I wonder what the original tube preamp and tuner were?

I was wondering the same thing Sam as the outline on the board that holds it up clearly shows another unit was in there and for a long time.

Forgot to mention a pair of JBL C46 Madison's (needing the LE10A's refoamed) and a pair of JBL L65 Jubals came home with this aswell :thmbsp:

I'm sure it will look as close to new as possible when Terry is done with it.

Pray tell how much did you get the console for (so I can feel bad about myself)?

-D

Great score, congrats! :thmbsp: You don't have to say what you paid, obviously, but I get the feeling it was something nutty like $25 for the console, based on it's looks. ;)

I don't want to bring everyone down on a Sat so maybe I shouldn't say. The two pair of speakers came for that price, Spaceman. You'd need to ad another $20 to get to the console price

BTW, the console unit is of very nice construction and very nice wood. There is a door that opens on the fron to reveal record or tape or....storage

Right on, hearing about the scores is good for the addiction too, not just making them. :thmbsp: I actually like the console, I just noticed that it's the type a lot of folks wouldn't look twice at.
