Many commercial radio stations are playing 'round-the-clock holiday songs, and while I like a lot of them -- Snoopy's Christmas, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Little St. Nick, Jingle Bell Rock, and the Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" productions -- there are others that are so sappy and overplayed, I just can't take another note. Here is my bottom of the holiday barrel. Feel free to add your own.

No argument here...One "Soft Rock/Limpdik" station started with Christmas music LAST week, f'r cryin' out loud...
 
A couple I WOULD like to hear are The Waitresses' "Christmas (W)Rapping" from '82, & Bob Rivers' "Wreck The Malls" from '85.
 
...And the ones that EVERY man-jack & his puppy dog who think they can sing has recorded his own "Special" version of..."The Little Drummer Boy" comes to mind, as does "Have Yrself a Merry Little Christmas", & a few others...Listen, all you "Entertainers"- No, the world does NOT need another iteration of some worn out Christmas carol that was overplayed even back in 1965...Trust me on this one...

I have great sympathy for the retail employees that have to suffer with this crap pumped at them through in store pa systems for 8 hours a day for 6-8 weeks. To make things worse, in many cases the idiot in charge of sound volume is deaf.

Cruel and inhuman.
 
Pretty much all of it, even the good songs, since it is just so overplayed. I was sick of it in my teens.

The especially obnoxious material is any and all that beats me over the head with overt (and oh so corny/cheeseball) religiosity.

Lol, I worked for years in retail during high school and college. All the MUZAK was torture, but the XMAS stuff was in particular. Luckily I usually kept busy enough to ignore it for the most part. But we did lower the volume on the store speaker system from time to time.

And yea, if I hear "Wonderful Christmastime" once again I WILL go into the back of the store and rip out their MUZAK system. :D
 
I'd be happy if i never heard another Christmas song again..much less had to weed though the thousands of cheezy Christmas albums to find the good stuff!!

I personally like this time of the year and like the Classical and Jazz side of Christmas music.

I agree with most of that list. But I do love classic X-mas music. I grew up on the Firestone records.

Nah, just because someone doesn't like one aspect of a certain thing doesn't mean they dislike it all, that they throw out the baby with the bathwater. :thmbsp:

I personally celebrate the Winter Solstice with my gf, family, and friends in many ways (including winter outdoor adventures/hikes, even camping), and we do so with much zest, spirit, and cheer! And I love late Fall, Winter, and Early Spring, my favorite seasons (Winter the favorite).

But I just don't like much of the music, at least the popular music, played ad infinitum, ad nauseum around the holidays. I have my own personal seasonal (secular) music that ranges from pop to classical to metal lol and I like to play it around the Winter Solstice, but I just don't need to hear music I don't like and it does affect my appreciation of the season (though I won't let it really get me down!). I do stay mostly out of stores as much as possible for this reason during the season.
