Malware alert on AK

The last few days I have been getting the occasional malware alert. the offending website is ireaud.com. I have a .BMP file of the screen capture available for the IT gang if it will help. It's too big to just attach though.

A big topic around here for a couple of weeks now.

Had this problem Norton blocked it.

I'm having issues with this as well. Doesn't happen on my computer that is running Windows XP but my Windows 7 system gets hit nearly every time I log in. I guess I found the problem.

Had problems with old computer with XP. Got pissed. bought new computer with Windows 7. Windows 7 is a pain and I am running into similar problems. :scratch2:

I'm running the "No Script" add-on in Firefox and get occasional cross scripting attack warnings. "No script" blocks these attacks because a virus can hide in these scripts. I'm running a Mac, so the malicious code can't run on my operating system. But I suggest, at a minimum, that those running Windows use Firefox with the "No Script" add on. I think this is the source of the viruses.

Another solution is to run your browser in a virtual session. There are several kinds of software that perform this function. The software blocks any malicious code from getting past the current window. It blocks the code from your hard drive and operating system. When you shut your browser, any virus is also eliminated. I did some searches last week and found some software that creates a virtual session and some that use a "sandbox" to block anything from getting written to your hard drive. One of them with high ratings is called "Sandboxie."

I used an excellent program a few years ago called GreenBorder. It was highly effective but the company was purchased by Google and discontinued. (GreenBorder was so effective that it even blocked keyloggers you already may have had on you computer from penetrating the virtual session.) But there may be others just as effective. If I were running Windows, I would definitely use browser virtualization.

If you have Windows 7 you should not be browsing the internet while logged in as an administrator. That's pretty much assumed as basic security.

I'm also interested in hearing from anyone who gets this problem while using Chrome or using the Google DNS server.

I use Chrome and Open DNS with malware sites blocked. I haven't had any problems.
