best choice for a Mayware Formula 4 MkIII arm?

It's on the new to me Kenwood KD 500 I picked up yesterday. It's my first experience with a uni-pivot low mass arm. It came with a Goldring Epic II cartridge that sounded OK, but seems like it needs a new stylus as it just doesn't sound quite right. I have a Denon DL 160 on it now and it sounds pretty darn good. But I also have an AT 440Mla that I want to try out.

Which of the 3 would be the best match for this arm? And is the Goldring worth repairing?

AT 440 ML or MLa is fine on a Mayware arm. It is low mass. Ortofon OM line is superb as are classics like the Shure V 15 Type III, IV, and V lines, the current M 97xE, and ADC XLM line.
 
funny arms those Mayware . You need the silicon in the tonearm for best performance .I have read they were a popular choice on the Kenwood . I used a Grado on mine and it worked fine in the short time I had it hooked up .

I have the AT on now and I have to say, it never sounded this good. I had it on a Linn Basik plus arm and it always sounded overly bright and not much in the way of a low end. On the Mayware it just sounds well balanced, bright clear highs, pronounced mids, and a clean bass. Al Stewart never sounded so good.
This is the first addition to the system in quite a while and I'm very impressed with the Kenwood/Mayware combination. I believe it may replace the much loved Thorens/Linn table.
I have the silicone ordered. I have some STP in it right now. The pivot and jewel are in good shape after a good cleaning.
 
The Mayware like`s high compliance cartridge`s.
Buy a cheap Acutex on the Ebay .:smoke:

I almost went with olive oil as I read that it would work , but opted for the slot car gear stuff . There was some kind of shipping issue with buying the silicone from an audio site in the US if I remember correctly ?

I had that same set up until I sold them off. I ran a Grado Signature 4 on it.
