how to test speakers

have some d9 c.vega and other then testing speaker ohms do not know how to test the crossovers etc. and where to get specs, any help would be appreciated

Testing speakers can be as easy as critically listening to music through them, preferably music that you are familiar with and have heard through speakers generally recognized as being very good. It can also be complex enough that it will take years and some pretty expensive equipment to do it. To get an idea of this, look at the indignia thread and all the measurements that zilch performed in developing that system. As for specs, see here:

You can test the crossover indirectly with a microphone measurement setup, or you can test it electrically, which can be done several ways but requires an assortment of electrical test gear regardless. Here are the specs:

I got setup with my test gear for about $400 this is what you need to start measuring.

Woofer Tester 2 ! $150 I don't recommend the WT3 it's junk IMHO, software is crap.Mine stopped working after 2 months @ $100.Plus you will have to pay $20 for their updates each.:nono: You will also need a small accurate digital gram scale for measuring VAS if you use the added mass method which is the easiest.
Measurement Mic Behringer ECM 8000 $80
Sound Card with 48V phantom power. Bought mine from auction site $125 M-Audio Fast Track Pro
25 ft.Cable & telescoping stand $65
Holm Impulse software It's free so is REW

Total cost $ 420

Say Mr. Best, What method have you been using with the Woofer Tester 2? Done many measurements? Compared to others? I will be buying this type of device soon.

Anyway if you are going to get a woofer tester go with the WT2. For the Vas measurement I use the Delta mass method.The WT3 I bought first.It worked (software) for 2 months and then stopped.I guess they wanted another $20 for the update. All updates for the WT2 are free.It costs more up front, but it is a much better tester IMHO.

Yes, I have been measuring response, a lot, but not impedance yet.
