I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Frankie Paris and Cold Sweat Live at Arthurs in New York City on Saturday night and it was a truly religious experience! They're there three nights a week and used to be the house band for the old Dana Carvey Show. If any of you are ever in NYC, DO NOT miss a chance to see Frankie et al! You can check out his cv and some sound bites from his latest album at his new site: www.FrankieParisandColdSweat.com

In my garage sale hunts I happened across this album called Dark Muddy Bottom Blues. It was released in '72. It's a compilation of 50's blues with 3 selections previously unissued.
some of the artists are: John lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Joe Williams, Mercy Dee Walton, Country Jim Bledsoe, Clarence London, & Pine Bluff Pete. Really great stuff. one of my favorites On this album is Clarence London . On the album it says about him: He recorded only one session in a Shreveport radio station, in the early 50's, and nothing more is known about him. A really great album ,also was available on 8-track, If'n ya come across it ,buy it. Derek |
