Rega P3-24 upgrades

I bought my P3-24 with the outboard motor not really planning on doing too much in upgrades. a short while after I had it I upgraded the sub platter to the gt ref platter. Afer that I upgraded the belt to the supposedly better white one and the cartridge to the Rega Exact. Yeah I realize most don't think that cartridge is any good but it was an upgrade from the Elys2. Finally I just changed the glass platter for a GT Delrin.
I realize that most here think its much more logical to just buy a better table rather than upgrade the P3-24 but the span of over 2 years of ownership it just happenned this way.
So now I'm thinking about the michele techno weight. So am I better off maybe just thinking about a better table or should I just keep going with the upgrades. There isn't really much more to go. Maybe after the techno weight an arm rewire and that would just about finish it up. I probably will never sel this so I'm not worried about getting my money back out of it. So far I'm happy to where I've been able to bring this table.

Your P3-24 is a fine turntable and definitely worth upgrading. The counterweight is a worthwhile improvement and so is the bearing upgrade. I'm not nuts about arm rewire but a lot of guys are.

Yep, rewire tonarm with premium cable and a better counterweight would be good upgrades. You go with a separate power supply psu?
 
Michael Lim mods are worth considering. I've recently modded my Planar 2 and the improved SQ is more than subtle.

Replace the round steel bearing located under the spindle with a more smoothly polished Ruby or Ceramic. ISOKINETIK and I think Groovetracer make them.

No "he" was talking about the ball bearing, didn't realize the GT reference sub-platter came with a zirconia ball bearing :D

Paul, thanks for sharing that. Have upgraded the counterweight on my modest P2 but still using the stock bearing although I've taken care to make sure it's clean and properly lubricated. The bearing upgrade has been on my mind and I plan to do that next.

In spite of trying to keep that stupid felt mat humidified I would still get snaps and crackles. With the new delrin platter is pretty much dead silent.
Amazing difference.
In trying to keep the felt mat humidified to avoid static the mat actually shrank. To me this platter change was worth it just to get rid of the mat.
