Just picked up an A-7 amp off of my not-so-favorite auction site. Anybody have any thoughts on this unit? I set the idle and checked offsets, both OK. I haven't hooked any speakers to it yet. It appears to be a very clean unit with 25,000 mfard caps on the supply.

I've got an A-5 that I bought new. I still use it and love it! These are somewhat under the radar amps, even when they were new. You won't be disappointed.
 
also had an a-5 and loved it. More character and chunk than other Onkyos I've heard -great for classic rock, guitar type music. Having said that, I almost bid on that same auction and decided the price with shipping wasn't that great.
 
Congrats on the A-7:thmbsp: I also own the A5 and couldn't be happier:D It's about to go in rotation this weekend:yes:
 
The volume control knob must weigh a couple pounds by itself !! Do I need jumpers between the pre in and main out?
 
initial impressions is that it sounds pretty good. Minor exterior cleaning and some deoxit and I think it's good to go. :music:

Decent piece of hardware: Just picked one up nice presence sound wise: about 65-68 rms per channel. Volume Knob is HUGE!.. there is an A-10 that is out there as well. I wonder what that sounds like at 85W per channel and also over built which is nice..
 
The A-10 sounds quite nice. Very clean and neutral, no emphasis or attenuation, like a wire with gain. Never seems to be working hard or straining. I'm sure the A-7 sounds very similar if a bit less powerful.

I have compared it to a Yamaha CA-1010 (that upper bass/lower midrange "Natural Sound")and a Pioneer SA-9500(boomy & bright at the same time).

Used TimeFrame 1000 and ADS L780/2.

That's my A-10 in bartertown, would love to find it a new home.
 
If the A-5 is anything to go by the A-7 will be a good amp.

I picked up an A-5 with a T-9 before christmass. More than meets my demands in the garage.
