Dual CS 1258 worth $50?

Like the title says, there's a Dual CS 1258 for sale by me for $50, is this worth it? I haven't heard a lot about this table, how does it compare to a 1009SK which is also being sold near me for $100? Which is the better quality table?

Thanks in advance

I know that Dual TT's are coveted, in general. And $50 for a table is fair for a decent table, especially if it has a good cart. I don't know this model, though.

Pros and cons on either one. The 1009 is a much older table, rim drive, but well regarded. The 1258 is way newer, ULM arm, it depends if you like that style or not - hard to change cartridges if you don't care for the Ortofon and/or it doesn't have the adapter. It was the bottom of the line for Dual that year, but it has its charms. I'll be interested to hear other opinions.

The 506-1 is probably what I'd consider the best of the three...but $125 is too high. $75 would be more reasonable.

The 1258 is a 50 buck table because the cartridge sled is 60 for a new replacement. Lots of plastic but it is a Dual and a TT so 50 is a fair price for one in good shape, if you want a 50 dollar table.

Thanks for the input, I'm looking for a decent quality table that I could potentially upgrade or at the very least grow with and not worry about for a while. I've currently got a Technics Sl-BD22 are the aforementioned Duals a worthy improvement? I don't have a huge budget and understand GW, Salvation Army, and other secondhand stores are the best value options but I've had very little luck at the ones by me. What would you guys recommend?

Let's put it this way: What don't you like about the SL-BD22?

As far as either Dual is concerned, if the cartridge or adapter aren't there, your SOL. That sled/adapter might as well be on Mars; it just isn't available for the 1258, and extremely hard to find for the 506.

Unless you're really unhappy with the Technics, I'd keep it and buy a cartridge for it instead. And I say that as the happy owner of a Dual in the same series as the 1258 (the 506-1 is one year previous).

I haven't seen a turntable in a Dallas-area GW or SA in a LOOOONG time! Either they get snatched up ASAP, or the stores just aren't putting them out.
