for something that comes up for sale as rarely as these (a few times a year, give or take), fair is in the eyes of the beholder. and it's also unclear whether he's really selling 1's or 1b's -- the 1b's ought to sound better and would be worth more. it's been a while, but i think i paid $2800 on the open market for a very nice set of 1b's with a lot of spare parts. i think i later sold them for around $2300, after selling off a bunch of the parts and more than breaking even. that was in a much better economy, but the demand has probably stayed pretty high.
here's another way to look at it. at any point above the $2300-2500 range, you stand a decent risk of losing some money should you want to resell in the not-so-distant future.

indeed, but are those the speakers for sale or a "borrowed" photo? it's not mentioned in the ad.

Sounds high to me. Listen to Ken. I know you want them, but I know the Colorado market pretty well. Show up with 2K and your dream could come true.
Yup you just need to be patient if you want a pair at a better price. I paid 900 dollars for my RS-1b's with Servo controller and 1100 for my RS-1'a which look like brand new, came with two Servo Controllers, 10 pure silver interconnets, and a bunch of really expensive speaker cables. My last pair of Infinity's were a pair of RSIIb's with a Yamaha M70 amp, which I paid 200 dollars for, they needed refoaming and one of the rear EMIT's is missing. I have refoamed them but have not had a chance to purchase the EMIT yet so there they sit in my hallway waiting for me to get around to them.
