See one for $50 on craigslist... Should I jump on this immediately?

Is that a bottom of the line model?
I mean I know it is still a Marantz, but just wondering!

Digits 3 and 4 are the wattage. 2210 at 10wpc I believe is the lowest power model - someone correct me if I am wrong (which I'm sure won't take any prodding).

it is at the lower (not lowest) end of the Marantz lineup but they bring silly money on ebay $150 is not uncommon personally I wouldn't buy one to use but if I could buy a working one in the $25-$50 dollar range I wouldn't hesitate to buy then just flip it on eBay

About equal, both are ~30WPC vintage brand-name receivers.

My Marantz 2230 is the receiver that kicked my Sansui 2000X out of here. Even though the Sansui did better FM, the 2230 has a very very nice sound.

The 2230 and 2230B are not the same. The 2230 is definitely built better.

Does the 2230B have a 4 gang tuner?

I'm about to email a CL post about a 2230... gonna see how low he'll go, since the ad is almost a month old now.

That is a really good deal. I would do it for sure...easily worth asking price even if it needs a little work, in my opinion.

Buy it and sell to me if you don't like it. At $50 it's a great price.

I don't know about the "b" model, but I have a 2230 and it sounds wonderful. I use it in my home office.

yup

YES!

My 2230B is WAY better than my 2230.

(my 2230 must be "funky").

$50 is a steal and you'll love it if you like your SX-990.

(IMHO Pioneer has a better tuner, sound wise, but that's me)
