Does anyone have a picture of the deck of the Bic 980 tt ? I took it apart to paint the deck. There was acouple of things that I took off . I have pictures but my wife deleted them from my computer not noing I needed them. Can any help me out ?

I don't have any pictures, but have you emptied your recycle bin (on the computer)? If not, you may be able to recover your pictures.

Thanks guys. The recycle bin is empty. I just need to see a picture of the deck with no platter on it. I removed the red piece with the long rod attached. I also took off a spring. I think I'll take pictures of the parts and post them. I'm almost ready to put it back together after restaining , repainting it, cleaning and relubbing it. Can't wait to use it.

Thanks Webdog. You really helped me out. That's what I needed to finish putting it back together again. Waiting on a new belt for it. I'll post pictures of it when I'm done.
 
You said that right. I had one a long time ago and I loved it. I was very happy tp get this one for free. I don't mind doing a little work on it. I wish the new Empire 2000Z cartridge I have would fit on it. I'm looking to trade it one that with work on it. Thanks for being a friend you're my first one.

I have somehow acquired 3 BIC 960s. One is being used as a second table in my main system for those times when I can't be there at the end of the record.
Using a Pickering XSV3000 on the BIC's low mass arm, it actually sounds quite good.

Why doesn't the Empire fit?
 
Oh, the BIC 960...This brings back Memories...I gave Mine away to my Ex's Work Girl Friend...Those where the Days, my Friend...Circa 1984...

The 2000Z should work fine on the BIC as long as you isolate the metal body from the headshell. Fit shouldn't be a problem.

You do have the bracket the cartridge snaps into don't you?

Yes I do have the bracket for it. The only thing I don't have is the stylus. Not sure what to get for it? I'm out of work and really can't spend to much money I don't have. Got the turntable for free.What would be a low cost replacement for it?
 
I would keep an eye on eBay. The low cost styli won't sound as good as a genuine 2000Z stylus but at least the cartridge will be useable and they don't sound too bad.

Because of the special tiny shank, there are only three styli that I know of that fit the 2000Z: S2000Z (metallic gold), S2000T (metallic blue) and S915E (metallic silver and clear amber). All are still available NOS via online vendors (for a price), and still come up on certain online auction sites. Sometimes you can get a deal. My S2000Z was $30, and that was only a couple of weeks ago.

The 2000T has the same basic specs but with looser tolerances, and their styli interchange.
The S915E styli appeared with a later line of clone¹ carts (eg the EXL-30), sort of a 2000Z revival.
¹ By "clone" I mean a cartridge or stylus that differs only cosmetically from a known original.

Thanks for the info. Mine is the 2000Z Gold. So I would what to use the S2000z Styli. You can find them on what auction sites? I would love to get the S2000Z for $30. Can anyone let me know if they find one at a good price? I'm almost ready to put the tuentable back together. I have to solder a wire that can lose. Will post pictures when I'm done.
 
I have a BIC 940 I picked up at an estate sale for $5. Cleaned and lubed it..put a Shure M91ED cart on it. I think it works great and sounds really decent.
