HPM-900 find of the day for me anyways

I picked these dudes up off of CL. I think I did ok for $75. They where posted last night at 9:30. I gave sent the guy a email this morning around 8:00 a.m.

He got back to, said he had tons of emails on them, but I was the first with a number to get a hold of me. So they could be mine if I wanted them.

The guy was the original owner. Sent them out 10 to 12 years ago to get the woofer re foamed. Used them for about 6 months after that. Then put them in a back room in his basement. They set in the same spot tell yesterday when it moved them for pictures.

They have soaked up some moister from the cement floor. Some swelling of the particle board.You can see it in the picture below. But I tell you for the money I think I did alright.

It's cast aluminum. That is a heavy well built speaker. and a score!

Live with that seperation at the bottom. Clean the grilles in the tub with dish soap or LA's.
 
Hey guys thanks for the advice. These things sound amazing, I forgot just how well they sounded. I am very very pleased with them.
 
Those are terrific speakers I'm sure. I have the even bigger HPM-1100 and love them. And for the price you paid you basically stole them. Congrats!
 
Awesome. One trick I've used is using a syringe and squirting glue into the crevice and clamping. Before even starting, make sure you have clamps large enough and ready! Also, tape the finished surface with blue painters tape, that way any excess glue doesn't soak into the wood making it difficult to get a nice even finish.

Absolute worst case, you'd have to cut out the baffle and replace it. I'd do it in a heart beat. I have 100's and the 900's are supposed to be even better. Again, nice find.

Forgot to mention, you'll want a board (2x4?) to put against the particle side for even clamping pressure. Might want it on the back too.

Thanks for the info....Will come in handy. Yeah when I went and picked them up. The guy told me they wasn't like that when it put them on the floor. Said he felt sick to his stomach, when he found it that way. I told him no biggie we will just deal with it
 
Very cool! Im rocking out to some Doobie Bros on my set with a big G Sui receiver. That's definitely sweet that the foams are good. I had to reform mine with Cobb surrounds. They truly is will rattle doors with their low bass. They're actually bigger than I thought they would be. Enjoy the 30-50,000hz rated bandwidth ;-)
 
Ok. Nice man cave. Sorry I was too busy staring at his Avatar, and then the 900's. Geez first things first. Lol. Seriously nice man cave. I would probably put the 900's off the pool table though. Good rock and roll, a little Bud, pool and pretty women. I mean come on, doesnt get in better than that.

Oh it gets much better then just the few pictures you see there. Still have 2 more room of nothing but man cave bliss:thmbsp::thmbsp:
