"Preference" brand from Denmark? Pyramid shaped speaker

Maybe "Preference" is a speaker model or range. Those look seriously cool and looks like the top pyramid is detachable/rotary. But unfortunately I've never heard of them or seen one here in Europe.

What was I thinking, surely those Chinese manufacturers would NEVER print "Made in Denmark" on a label to deceive anyone.
I've not been able to see them first hand yet.

My Orion Bluebook has them listed as made for the Military market.Probably sold at PX's and BX's.I couldnt find a PY-250,but there was a listing for the 240:
PY-240.Year:91-92.3-way,3speaker,10"woofer,5"midrange,1"tweeter.
$858/pair.
Definetly not white van.

I agree they don't LOOK like any white van speakers I've ever seen, it was just the fact that the label looked less than top quality and that I could not find any reference at all for any company named Preference.

That list of Danish manufacturers is not complete.
A long time ago I had a pair of speakers labeled "Peerless Made in Denmark".
When I opened them I found they were stuffed with a bunch of Peerless (duh!) drivers.
So never say never. And I agree with Ohighway: white van not likely build pyramid cabinets (and I believe they actually are separate enclosures for the woofer and the rest).
I would check them....if the price is not high...

I have a set . I have the PY-250 ' s. They are the top model they made. Me and 2 of my friends purchased ours at a trade show in Germany in 1987. I love them. The sound is amazing. They are ceramic and weigh 100 lbs each. The top with the mid and tweeter does pivot. They handle 250 watts. (Py-250). They made 4 models, the 100, 150, 200, and 250. They came in white or black. We all bought the black ones. They are easy to paint. The grills are metal. There are electronics inside at the base. I had one of them rebuilt in the early 90's. It was tough because they are metric.2 of us still have them and the other had them stolen during shipping. They went bankrupt shortly after we purchased them. We got them at the trade show price of $720.00 a pair. All the audio magazines of the time had the price at $1650.00 each. I don't know what they are worth today. That's how I found your post, trying to find them on line .no info Yet

Thanks for the modelinfo. That means mine are PY-200. Im not sure what you mean by pivot. Mine were supposed to be at 250 W. The former owner (danish) said they were made in Randers.
Not the same. Preference of Denmark that made this pyramidshape loudspeaker went bankrupt around 1989. Most likely the modelname is a coincidence. The once in bluebook are with horns. Just PA for the military. My danish PY have Dynaudio elements and crossover.

I have a pair of Preference PR 150 speakers, bought them in Germany back in 1989. These are towers and they sound(ed) amazing! I'm in the mood to repair the cones and while doing some research came across this thread. I'm amazed I've come across a forum with members who know what these speakers are.
