Just acquired a Denon DP-47F!

Victory is mine!
I just picked up a Denon DP-47F TT locally for a nice deal. I got it home and found that it had a DL-160 MC cartridge mounted. I'm thinking it was either shipped originally with this cartridge or it was the typical cartridge sold with it. I checked the date stamp on the rear and it was manufactured 3/2000. I didn't realize this was a newer TT. (Compared to 70's/80's) I did test it on the seller's system (which was decent) and it did sound very good, and the table seems very well made. I've owned my beloved, mint Denon DP-60L for 11 or 12 years and I also own a Pioneer PL-L1000 that I restored a couple years ago. So I'm not sure what I'll do with this one, but you can never have too many nice turntables...:)

I am stumped by the manufacturer date though!
I have never seen or heard of a DP-47 built that recently.
I know many 47 owners and they are all vintage tables.
I have a mint DP-45F table and mated with a Denon DL-301MKII and love the combo.

Maybe this particular table was shipped with the 160 but I kinda doubt it. Certainly it is a very popular cart for this table. I know many 160 fans.

If you ever find out the manufacture date on this table making sense drop the thread a note.

Not sure of the exact date of manufacturing of your turn table.

The release date was around 1981.

It was shipped with the Denon DL-80 homc with user replaceable stylus.

My used Denon DL-80 cartridge has a so so stylus.

The replacement stylus is still available for about $95.00 US. :music:

Nice! I also have a DP47f. I got mine NOS about a little less than a year ago. I have not used it yet because I had to get a Phono Preamp as the cables are not long enough to reach my receiver (no, I can't move it). I also don't trust the phono stage on the receiver anyway. It also needs a new cart, a MM cart because it came with a POC Simuko Blue Point (I don't think I spelled the name correctly, but everyone knows what it is....except me). I've only heard it and hate it.
I just have not had the time or money to throw at it to press it into surface, but someday I will after I am through digitizing my vinyl I need to do and after I get a new CD player. (It will be a few months more)
 
I've got the pedestrian DP7F and it's a surprisingly decent little table for being so far down on Denon's totem pole. Very quiet motor on mine, yours should be excellent by comparison!
 
I have the Denon DP47F table that I bought a year ago from the little old lady original owner. She purchased it in Kansas somewhere from a Denon dealer. They are still in business, at least they were when I checked back then. I can't recall their name although she showed me the receipt. It came fitted with an Audio Technica AT331LP cartridge.
I played it for a while and recall it sounding very nice.
It has been on the I "gotta get to it" pile but last night was moved to the workbench and I spun a few LP's on it.
It is the most quiet table I have, no mechanisms to shake, rattle and roll I suppose.

Mine also has the pedestrian DATE CODE sticker

The START button does not operate.

The arm does not return to the start position at the end of the record but does return by pressing the STOP button.The STOP button does return the arm to the start position but the arm does not drop onto the holder or shut off the machine.

The machine works manually by using the LOCATE and STOP buttons.


Thus she's on the bench.

This is a common problem - somehow LEDs in tonearm servo loose brightness. You have to replace them. It should work after that.

Thanks for the heads up! I will give that a look. I recall checking into something like that when I first got it. I was advised to clean the LED light on the record size detector lamp.
I did but there was no improvement.
