Roving Vinyl Grabber
I now have a companion to my STA-90 (got it a couple years ago for about $10).

Both in great shape, both function flawlessly and sound great.

STA-80 last week for $1 (yes, one dollar and they thanked me).

Sure glad that people are getting rid of these horrible old junkers.

Nice! I like Realistic alot!! I had recapped a STA 95 because the caps were leaking electrolyte fluid out of them. Some Realistic gear had cheap caps in them so check to see if they are leaking and change them.Buy the way I have a Sta 90 as well. How does the sound of the 80 compare with the 90?

Nice grab. About six years ago I received an STA-82 from a family friend for free. It played sweetly for a year or two and then one day it suddenly popped and sparked -- dead. With a newborn in the house my wife made me get rid of it. It's now in the great recycling bin in the sky. This was before I knew much about recapping, etc. I still miss that unit. :tears:

Thanks for all the comments.

I haven't hooked the 80 and 90 to the same speakers, so I can't compare them as to sound.

Maybe I can do that soon. As for now, they both sound great to me and I'm guessing (based on the look of them) that on the same speakers the 90 is going to sound at least a little better.

I've got a mint STA-90 that might be the best sounding Realistic receiver I've ever heard, and I've heard and own many...:)

Dial phone still works good and sounds better than any cell phone.

I use it for more relaxed conversations.

That area is sort of a retro style area anyway.

:)
